Update to Delaware’s Long-Range Transportation Plan Is in Progress
DelDOT has begun the process of updating their Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), estimated to be complete by the end of 2024. The LRTP, titled Connecting Everyone Everywhere, is a policy-based plan that will identify broad goals, policies, and priorities that will serve as a framework for shaping DelDOT’s multimodal transportation investments and decision-making over the next 20 years.
It will also serve as a depository for DelDOT’s future-facing ideas and plans and will further integrate sustainability and resilience considerations into the transportation planning process, working towards creating a well- connected, multi-modal transportation network that enhances safety, addresses extreme weather impacts, and promotes environmentally responsible transportation choices.
Building off DelDOT’s mission of “Excellence in Transportation. Every Trip. Every Mode. Every Dollar. Everyone,” the LRTP is organized by the nine elements contained in the Department’s “Framework for Excellence” and will provide connections between those elements, transportation challenges, and DelDOT’s strategic plans, policies, and projects.
DelDOT has been meeting with each of Delaware’s Metropolitan Transportation Organizations (MPOs) and other
stakeholders to learn about their priorities and plans as they work to build consensus in support of the Plan.
