WILMAPCO Set to Begin A New Pair of Studies
While we continue work on a few ongoing studies, including the City of New Castle Transportation Plan and Bridging I-95: Reconnecting the Community (I-95 Cap Feasibility Study), WILMAPCO is getting started on a pair of new studies that include an update to the 2008 Southbridge Circulation Study and a plan to address transportation and safety issues in the Ardens.
The new Southbridge Circulation

circulation in Southbridge with the
Christiana Avenue. As part of the study, a road diet, D Street sweep
removal, truck reduction options,

with the South Market Street Master Plan, and other measures recommended in the Southbridge NeighborhoodActionPlan(SNAP), will be examined.
Recommendations stemming from the Route 9 Corridor Master Plan and Port of Wilmington Truck Access Study will also be folded into this study, which will be developed in partnership with the Southbridge Civic Association, Southbridge Community Development Corporation, the South Wilmington Planning Network, and the greater Southbridge community.
The Ardens Transportation Plan will address transportation issues common among the villages of Arden, Ardentown, and Ardencroft, increasing access and safety for active transportation. This plan will build on and integrate with prior efforts, including the villages’ foundational plans, Arden’s Water Quality Master Plan, the Ardentown Paths Plan, and the Wilmington Montessori Safe Routes to School Plan.
Both plans will be developed through a robust public participation process that will include local stakeholders and leaders, relevant public agencies, and community members to produce documents that guide future state and municipal infrastructure investment.
To sign up for updates on either of these studies, please email Randi Novakoff at rnovakoff@wilmapco.org.
