Another project kicking off is the I-95 Cap Feasibility Study. Nationwide, many cities are creating caps over highways and utilizing this found space for parks and recreational purposes. Several of WILMAPCO’s recently completed studies have also moved into the implementation and
monitoring phases, including:
• North Claymont Area Master Plan Monitoring Committee – WILMAPCO will work with the partners and the community to facilitate planning for the development of a mixed- use and walkable transit hub, promote completion of the East Coast Greenway, assist with planning transit service changes, and work toward completion of other Master Plan recommendations as this area develops.
• Route 9 Data Trends Report – This project will track changing transportation and land use along Route 9, between the cities of Wilmington and New Castle, to support the implementation efforts of the existing Route 9 Corridor Monitoring Committee.
• US 202 20-Year Land Use and Transportation Plan Monitoring Committee – This new committee will examine changes to Concord Pike, between the city of Wilmington and the DE/PA State Line, to support implementation efforts of the recently adopted Concord Pike Corridor Master Plan.
