states, but deep down he knew he wanted to work for Mazur and eventually take over his business once he was ready to retire.
“Bob was adamant that whoever would end up taking over his business should
care a lot about the reforestation side of his business,” Tulloss explained. “His attention to detail in this part of forest management set him apart from other consulting foresters. He wanted to be sure that I could handle working long days and nights,
and that I could successfully oversee the planting of nearly one million seedlings in the ground. For bigger companies, this task is not so daunting. For a one-man operation,

this is an enormous undertaking.”
So Mazur made a deal with Tulloss.
“If I could make it through tree planting season,” Tulloss said, “he would prepare me to take over the business.”
And make it through he did! Mazur would train Tulloss and work by his side from May 2017 until July 2020, when he offi- cially retired. Mazur & Tulloss Associates has been solely operated by Tulloss ever since.
