WHAT IS A CONSULTING FORESTER?
A consulting forester is an independent forester who provides services to private landowners. Consulting foresters work in the interest of their clients, developing management strategies to meet the landowner’s objectives for their property.
Tulloss leads a tour of a client’s property during the 2023 Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience program. During the tour, Tulloss discussed the landowner’s objectives and showed a variety of management techniques implemented to achieve the objectives.
Tulloss walks through a tupelo swamp on his family farm in Whitakers, NC — just before
harvesting this stand of swamp timber and reforesting the area with bald cypress trees
and a variety of bottomland oaks.
