Logging Cost Analysis Workshop
In response to the recent challenges facing the forest products industry, specifically our logging force, the NCFA and Carolina Loggers Association (CLA) have collaborated with Dr. Joseph Conrad and Dr. Chad Bolding from the Warnell School of Forestry Resources at the University of Georgia to host an annual, one-day Logging Cost Analysis workshop. The goal of these free workshops is to help loggers gain a better cost analysis of their businesses to be successful in this tight market.
This workshop covers both principles and applications of logging cost analysis techniques from the perspective of logging business owners, accountants, and managers. Attendees participate
in hands-on training, including spreadsheet models that allow them to make modifications necessary to assess and simulate a range of harvesting systems, techniques, and equipment mix variations. Attendees can use this knowledge to compare their logging operation to the open market.
We held our first two workshops in 2022, one in October 2023, and are in the process of scheduling another one for 2024.
Truck Driver Safety Workshops
In a joint effort to promote safety and express gratitude, the NCFA partnered with member companies to organize a truck driver appreciation and safety lunch event. These events, held in collaboration with the CLA, Vestige View Solutions,
and the Loss Control team from Forestry Mutual Insurance Company, aim to support log truck drivers and enhance industry-wide safety practices.
