They leave and the company goes, ‘What
do we do with this?’” Crandall said. “We
actually execute the plan on their behalf.”
Greencastle’s focus on veterans doesn’t
just extend to hiring them and giving
them an opportunity to become leaders
within the company. “We also have several
members of our organization that are on
boards of not-for-profits benefiting the
veteran community,” Crandall said. Those
organizations include the USO, the Patriot
Fund and Team Foster, which matches
veterans with service dogs. In fact,
Greencastle donates some of its space to
Team Foster as a training location for dogs.
“I would say, in an average year, we’re
probably donating at minimum $250,000
and countless hours to veteran causes,”
Crandall said.
The Chester County Chamber is also a
partner in these efforts, he noted, for
example by supporting a veteran job fair
organized by Greencastle in June and also
Greencastle’s VetFest — a celebration of
veteran-owned businesses that takes place
each September.
“The idea of the festival is to bring
together civilians and veterans,” Crandall
said. “We have veteran vendors and food
trucks, and people from the community
can meet them and help them find success
with their businesses.”

In turn, Greencastle has given back to
the Chamber as well: Greencastle’s Amy
Sanchez is co-chair of the Chamber’s
Emerging Leaders Committee. (For more,
