EXCELLENCE IN CRAFTSMANSHIP – ELECTRICAL OVER $10 MILLION
FURNESS ELECTRIC
Christiana Care – Women’s and Infant’s Tower
This project by Furness Electric at ChristianaCare’s new 400,000-square-foot Women’s and Children’s Tower addition on
the Christiana Campus included high-voltage work in the hospital’s Central Utility Plant as well as infrastructure, distribution and normal and emergency power installation throughout the new building. Because of the complexity associated with hospital electrical and infrastructure systems, Furlow utilized 3D BIM modeling to map the entire building to avoid conflicts and ensure a safe and functional installation. In addition, Furness utilized an innovative digital, low-voltage lighting control system to control the over 9,000 lights in the project. With over 605 miles of wire installed, the project took a year of planning and three years of construction.

Paper Mill Road Bridge 1-227 Replacement
Delivered in DelDOT’s CM/GC methodology, this successful project combined innovative engineering design with skillful project management to deliver
a precast concrete box culvert
as a tunnel under Paper Mill Road for a well-used park trail. Challenges included coordinating construction around a major fiberoptic line and dealing with a 100-year rainfall event. Despite these setbacks and the need to add COVID-19 protocols, George & Lynch delivered the project
in less than 75 days and just over $100,000 under the target budget.

GEORGE & LYNCH, INC.
Kent County US 13 Sewer Rehabilitation Project
This project by George & Lynch for the Kent County Delaware Department of Public Works involved the slip lining of 16,000 feet of old concrete sewer pipe with new 20-inch PVC pipe. The project, which runs through the median of Route 13 in Dover had to be accomplished without disrupting traffic on this major arterial highway. Using slip lining pulls
of 400 to 800 feet, George & Lynch was able to successfully complete
the work within the project’s five-month time frame and significantly under budget.
