In the world of Delaware nonprofits, the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) is all about advancing nonprofit impact in the First State. And that can’t be done without leaders like Sheila Bravo, who has served as the organization’s president and CEO since 2015. Before leading DANA, Bravo worked in nonprofit, for-profit and academic industries, most recently as the former executive director of the Rehoboth Art League, but also in roles where she developed strategic growth plans for nationally known brands such as Vlasic Pickles and Corningware Ovenware.

As CEO of Leadership Delaware, Jennifer Cohan embraces growing Delaware’s cohort of leaders and the collaborations that are made possible by the small-state connections in Delaware. The nonprofit organization was created in 2008 with a mission
of “building the bench” with diverse and knowledgeable First State leaders dedicated to improving the state, region and world. Before taking the helm at this impactful nonprofit, Cohan led the Delaware Department of Transportation as its secretary. She previously served as the department’s Division of Motor Vehicles first female director, and worked in public service for more than three decades.

Stuart Comstock-Gay
Delaware Community Foundation
Stuart Comstock-Gay, president and CEO of the Delaware Community Foundation, makes it his mission to help generous people achieve their goals and to help Delaware be the
best it can be through his role at this Wilmington-based nonprofit. The Delaware Community Foundation establishes and manages charitable funds for people and organizations
in the area. Comstock-Gay previously worked for philanthropic and community organizations in New England, and has been active in politics and civil rights through several other organizations and as a regular radio commentator, speaker and writer.

Gerret Copeland
Gerret Copeland, a member of Delaware’s legacy du Pont family, alongside his wife, Tatiana, has been deeply committed to Delaware’s philanthropic needs, especially related to the arts and the welfare of animals. In 2022, the couple celebrated the opening of the Copeland Center for Animal Welfare in partnership with the Brandywine Valley SPCA. Together, they have established a unique model of community philanthropy in the First State and have received numerous awards for their commitments, including the 2020 Josiah Marvel Cup Award bestowed by the Delaware Chamber of Commerce, the 2019 Delaware History Makers Award and the 2011 Order of the First State given by former Gov. Jack Markell.
