RICHARD Y. JOHNSON
In the GC/CM $ 15-20 million category, Richard Y. Johnson is awarded an Excellence for the Delaware Turf Sports Complex. The project included 12 new synthetic turf athletic fields and five support buildings. Challenges included coordination with DelDOT and the new south Frederica overpass as well as sequencing of fields to limit overall site disturbance. The project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule.
RALPH G. DEGLI OBIZZI & SONS
In the mechanical $2-10 million, Ralph G. Degli Obizzi & Sons is awarded Excellence for the University of Delaware’s South Academy Street Residence Hall. This project was built on pride with the Merit Shop construction philosophy. The building is a 120,000-square-foot residence hall with the capability of housing 540 first-year students. With BIM modeling and careful planning the project was completed in a timely manner.
EASTERN INDUSTRIAL SERVICES
Eastern Industrial Services is awarded an Excellence for the specialty trade category thermal insulation/fire stop at the University of Delaware’s South Academy Street Residence Hall. Partnering with R.G. Degli Obizzi & Sons, Eastern completed all the required work safely, on budget and on time, through continued originality.
BANCROFT CONSTRUCTION
Bancroft Construction is awarded an Excellence in the GC/CM $60 million and over category for the Longwood Gardens Main Fountain project. The project involved the complete revitalization of the centerpiece of North America’s most significant fount collection. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, the two-year, nearly $90 million project was the largest preservation of its kind in the United States.
