MESSAGE FROM MARSHA GORDON
RESILIENCE AND REFLECTION | ANNUAL DINNER 2020
MARSHA GORDON
President & CEO
Business Council of Westchester
It’s been a challenging year, but we have risen to the moment with the spirit that
we have all come to expect of New Yorkers and of Westchester businesses. Because our strength has been in our unity, tonight, rather than spotlight one important individual or organization, we chose to honor four outstanding healthcare systems and give, well‐deserved, special recognition to two community hospitals which served Westchester through one of the most challenging periods in our history.
These fearless, dedicated and highly skilled health professionals fought on the front lines against this deadly virus, risking their personal safety to ensure the continued health of our communities.
We applaud their hard work this evening and salute their courage and commitment.
We are also here tonight to recognize
the initiative, resourcefulness and
spirit of four important sectors of our business community — our government sector, fortune 500 corporate sector, our not‐for‐profit sector and our small business
sector. We salute them all for pulling together during this time of need to keep our economy going.
I’m also proud to recognize our own organization for finding new ways to adapt. As a result, the BCW has become a model for other business organizations to follow. During the challenges of COVID‐19 the BCW became the “go‐to information resource” on relevant, critical topics such as the paycheck protection program, economic injury disaster loan, economic recovery planning and so many other workplace challenges during COVID. Our members received daily updates on state and local guidance with regard to regulations and re‐openings, as well as access to our 24‐7 business resource center. In addition, we hosted many information programs with experts who answered critical questions on all topics that matter to business.
As we deal with this pandemic, I know that we will support one another and continue to find creative ways to work in this new normal.
