ust 30-minutes from Manhattan, New Rochelle is undergoing a major transformation, attracting millennials and a diverse work- force from New York City. With a population of nearly 80,000, New Rochelle’s Master Development plan sets forth a compre-
hensive vision for a thriving city where all residents and visitors can find a place to live, work and grow. The city’s ambitous new zoning initia- tive marks an economic rebirth in New Rochelle’s historic downtown. This includes:
• 12 million square feet of new development,
including 2.4 million square feet of prime office space
• 1 million square feet of retail
• 7,000 housing units
• 1,200 hotel rooms
In late 2018, New Rochelle was awarded a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grant designated for investment in the city’s Lincoln Avenue neighborhood.
