Westchester is the backdrop of choice for leading television and film directors.
A New Vision
With a movie-making heri- tage dating back to the si- lent film era, Westchester has long been a sought- after location by the industry’s top producers and filmmakers.
Lionsgate Studios at iPark in Yonkers
Solidifying the County’s leadership position within the regional film in- dustry, Lionsgate Studios, along with investment firms Great Point Capital Management and National Resources, announced the construction of “Lionsgate Studios at iPark,” a $100 mil- lion soundstage on the Yonkers water- front, near 1 Larkin Plaza.
Based in Santa Monica, California, Lionsgate Studios’ film business has grossed $1.5 billion with a film cata- logue that includes the blockbusters La La Land, Crash, Precious and The Hunger Games. Television properties include Mad Men, Nashville, Weeds and Nurse Jackie.
Slated for completion in the fall
of 2020, the new film/television studio complex will include retail space, and is expected to create 200 construc- tion jobs and 160 permanent jobs at the site.
