 JEFFREY DINOWITZ
Assemblyman 81st District Bronx County
Dear Friends:
Over the past decade, the Bronx has experienced a renaissance – with new economic centers developing and more Bronxites choosing to live and work in the same borough. I am excited and optimistic about the future of the Bronx, and that is in part due to the work of groups such as the Bronx Chamber of Commerce. We are fortunate to have an organization which not only advocates on behalf of a burgeoning business community in the Bronx, but also helps connect job-seekers with potential employers, assists small business owners navigate the bureaucracy involved with new enterprises, and connecting MWBE establishments with resources made available by New York City and New York State.
The Bronx Chamber of Commerce has played an important role in the economic prosperity of our borough, and I thank them for their ongoing efforts to support the work which has led to this new age. For 125 years, they have supported our Bronx community through a variety of partnerships: helping NYPD reduce crime, organizing efforts to develop new commercial centers, helping seniors with limited incomes, supporting educational programs for our students, and more.
As we approach the end of the second decade in the 21st Century, my district in the Northwest Bronx is facing new challenges. Commercial landlords are drastically raising rents, forcing out small and local business owners who have been staples of our community for years. Consumer spending is shifting towards multi-national corporations that offer online platforms, driving business away from brick and mortar stores that make our neighborhoods vibrant centers of activity. I am grateful that we have the Bronx Chamber of Commerce to help us tackle these challenges, and look forward to a continued partnership in the Northwest Bronx.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Dinowitz Member of Assembly
