ahri — an internationally
renowned shipping
conglomerate
specializing in the
transportation of oil and gas,
petrochemicals, general cargo
and dry bulk — received a
new general cargo vessel
in late April.
The M/V
Bahri
Hofuf
, built by Hyundai MIPO
in South Korea, has a size
of 26,000 DWT and was the
second vessel delivered from
the six vessels that were
contracted by Bahri with
Hyundai MIPO in 2011. The
first of the new vessels, the
M/V
Bahri Abha
, made its
maiden voyage to the Port
of Baltimore earlier in the
month.
Each “RoCon” vessel is
priced at $70 million and is
designed for ultimate efficiency
and performance while carrying
general and project cargo and
several other types of roll-on/
roll-off (ro/ro) cargo. Despite
having more cargo-lifting
capabilities, the newer vessels
are lighter weight and consume
45 percent less fuel than the
existing fleet.
Delivery of Bahri’s four
remaining general cargo
vessels is expected to take
place during 2013 and the first
half of 2014
