OUTREACH
MSC’s Tasty Fundraiser Aided
by Maryland Line Handling
A
pit beef lunch served up May 30 by the
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) helped
to support two non-profit children’s charities —
Operation Smile and the Dundalk Youth Services Center (DYSC).
Each organization received a donation of $1,100 — a total that was
“better than expected,” according to Mauro Dal Bo, Manager of MSC’s
Baltimore office.
Dal Bo thanked Maryland Line Handling for supporting the event, which
took place in the 2200 block of Broening Highway.
The DYSC has licensed professionals that offer individual, family and
group counseling, as well as referral and prevention services. The center
works through partnerships with schools, government, community agen-
cies and faith-based organizations.
Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that
provides safe, effective reconstructive surgery and related medical care for
children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.
The following day, Operation Smile was also the benefactor of an MSC
“auction and pieing” event, during which bids were taken to determine
which MSC participants would get pies in the face.
