NCFA Executive Director John Hatcher and I first visited Troy Lumber in the fall of 2020, shortly after I’d joined the NCFA’s staff. I was green when it came to understanding forestry in general, but specifically the forest products industry.
After two years of interviews, visits, discussions, and research, I know I still have a lot to learn
when it comes to this diverse industry and people. However, one thing I know for sure is that forestry folks are one-of-a-kind, humble stewards of our great planet. Allen Whitesell is a wonderful example of that ethos, and a strong leader as the past Board President and current Chairman of the Board of the NCFA. He is also a member of the NCFA’s Strategic Planning Committee.
I sat down with him in the fall of 2021 to discuss his membership in the NCFA and the winding road that brought him to his current role.
