 GOAL
 STRATEGY
  MEMBERSHIP
Expand impact by increasing, diversifying, and better engaging members.
SPONSOR:
Boyd McLaurin
 1. Implement business development within the NCFA through the acquisition of resources, such as a consultant or full-time employee.
2. Develop an association scorecard that demonstrates what the NCFA does for its members and its value proposition.
NOTE:
– Communicate the “why” that unites diverse constituents and excites involvement
3. Segment the NCFA’s membership for better messaging and value delivery.
4. Conduct continual member assessments and surveys.
5. Increase value proposition to those outside forest products industry.
   PUBLIC AWARENESS
Increase recognition by educating the public and growing our message of sustainability.

  1. (tie) – Grow and strengthen our educational outreach to internal and external audiences (e.g. the voting public).
1. (tie) – Increase the number of NCFA influencers.
2. Engage public education agencies such as DPI, NEA, PTA, and others
about curriculum and instruction with PLT, Muddy Sneakers, etc.
3. Engage member companies.
4. Develop a plan to make a Forestry Camp in a box.
   POLITICAL ACTION
Maintain a strong political influence to advocate for our industry.

   1. Develop educational tours and trips, including non-lobbying style gatherings (mills and wood-workers).
2. Develop fundraising abilities within the NCFA.
3. Utilize NCFA members to advocate regionally and locally by providing
resources such as contacts and messaging.
NOTE:
– All of these activities need to be within ethics laws
   GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT
Support the mission of the NCFA by ensuring sound governance and management with an effective staff team.
SPONSOR:

 1. Hire an outside consultant to periodically review the NCFA’s governance documents and structure and make recommendations for improvements.
NOTES:
– Board member training
– Clarify expectations of board members
– Investigate term limits for committee chairs
2. Implement a flexible and creative staffing approach that meets members’ needs and implements the strategic plan.
3. Implement a working board-meeting approach. NOTES:
– Discuss strategic plan – Discuss member issues
4. Provide visibility into how staffing meets goals of strategic plan.
