KENT COUNTY’S SCENE OF BREWERIES, WINERIES
THERE’S AN AMAZING DIVERSITY OF FLAVOR
IN FACT, WE’VE PUT TOGETHER THE GOOD LIBATIONS TOUR SO YOU CAN DO JUST THAT! MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ALL STOPS ON THE TOUR IS BELOW. WE RECOMMEND CALLING AHEAD TO CHECK ON OPEN STATUS, CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS AND TASTINGS AVAILABILITY.
Start your exploration in this small historic town, which sits right on the border between Kent and New Castle counties.
Brick Works Brewing and Eats has about a dozen brews on tap at any time, including hefeweizens, IPAs, sours and stouts. Get your favorite (or favorites) to go in a 32oz crowler, but don’t leave without trying the drool over the Mac Daddy: mac-n-cheese tossed with pulled pork, BBQ sauce and crispy onions.
At the Blue Earl Brewing taproom, known as “The Juke,” you have a close-up view of the brewhouse where the beers on tap are being made. Make sure you try Zombie Milk, a sweet stout made with caramel malts, and Walking Blues IPA, named after a blues standard made famous by the legendary Robert Johnson.
Painted Stave Distilling small-batch distillery, partners with farmers to create vodka, gin and whiskey with a uniquely Delaware twist. The distillery offers a craft cocktail bar, an on-site food truck and lots of to-go cocktails.
Delaware’s capital, Dover, is home to Fordham & Dominion Brewing Company, just 13 miles south of Smyrna. Fordham & Dominion’s year-round beers include a wide variety of styles, from lagers and amber ales to sours and stouts. Make sure to indulge in some seasonal varieties too, such as the Cherry Blossom Lager (available in the spring) or the Spiced Harvest Ale (in the fall). For your designated driver, the brewery has a lineup of house-made sodas, including root beer, ginger ale, creamy orange soda and black cherry soda.
