DEEP CREEK BAR AND GRILL:
Steamed Crabs with Local Flair
Jason Cayer and his business partner Drew Algeo opened Deep Creek Bar and Grill in April 2022 at 17869 Garrett Highway in Oakland. The space had previously hosted another popular restaurant, whose owner was friends with Cayer.
In keeping with the history of the spot, “we wanted a local atmosphere,” Cayer said. “There’s pictures of local areas on the walls, as well as local people.”
As far as the menu goes, Deep Creek Bar and Grill aims for a diverse array of comfort foods.
“We range from some of the best steamed shrimp around to chicken wings and pub food,” Cayer said. “A couple of nights a week, we’ll do specials.”
In establishing the bar and grill, Cayer and Algeo wanted to fill the void left by some affordable local restaurants that had gone out of business. “Customers told us they like going somewhere that has a reasonably priced menu, where they can come three, four nights a week instead of one.”
Already, Cayer and Algeo are exploring the potential for expansion. “We’re always looking at that,” Cayer said.
