Rainy Day? The Fun Doesn’t Have to Stop!
Participants age 5 and up can test their skills at the Deep Creek Ninja Factory (dcladventures.com/deep-creek-fun- zone/#ninja). Two different obstacles lanes of varying degrees of difficulty are available, and kids can run each as often as your booking time permits.
For ages 8 and up, a session at the Deep Creek Axe Throwing Co. (dcladventures. com/deep-creek-axe-throwing-co) is a great way to blow off some steam on a rainy day.
The Alley (deepcreeklakebowling.com) offers not just bowling, but also an arcade, pool table and shuffleboard. If all that activity has you hungry, The Alley’s menu includes casual favorites such as pizza, wings, burgers, hot dogs or subs.
Keep the outdoor exploration going indoors at The Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park (discoverycenterdcl.com). Here, kids can have close encounters with turtles and raptors while learning about the flora and fauna of Garrett County. Hands-on exhibits and games will keep everyone busy until the sun comes out again — at which time, head for the playground next door.
Still raining? Stop by one of our many
fun arcades, such as Deep Creek Fun Zone (dcladventures.com/deep-creek- fun-zone), which also offers laser tag, bumper boats and go carts, Fun Unlimited (fununlimiteddcl.com)— with more than 100 new and vintage games — or Funland Family Fun Center (deepcreekfunland. com), where classic arcade games sit alongside an old-fashioned carousel.
Wind down your rainy day by taking
in a movie at Garrett 8 Cinemas (garrett8cinema.com) or going for a swim at the Garrett College Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex (gccarc.com).

Fun Festivals for Every Season
Every President’s Day weekend, head
to Oakland Winter Fest (oaklandmd. com) for ice-carving demonstrations, illuminated ice sculptures, carriage rides and more!
For classic summer fun that includes carnival rides, farm shows and craft exhibits, try the Garrett County Agriculture Fair (garrettcountyfair.org), which usually takes place the first week in August. Later that month, come back to the fairgrounds for the Country Fest and Auction (countryfest.org), featuring pony rides, aerial candy drops, a petting zoo and so much more!
Garrett County’s favorite Christmas extravaganza is the Festival of Trees (facebook.com/Festival-of-Trees-Garrett- County-MD-158774690885517). A 2022 date has already been set for Nov. 25 and
26. Proceeds from this fun, affordable family event benefit the Dove Center, a domestic violence and sexual assault services program.
And of course, you can’t miss our annual
Autumn Glory Festival (visitdeepcreek. com) with its two large parades, live music, turkey dinners, art exhibits and craft shows! With older kids, make sure to take a fall- foliage driving tour — the dazzling colors are bound to make a few jaws drop. For even more fall fun, check out the Cove Run Farms Corn Maze (coverunfarmscornmaze.com)!
