Every parent knows it: if the kids don’t have a good time, no one does. Luckily, that’s not something you’ll ever have to worry about in Garrett County. We have everything kids love about a summer vacation: water to splash around in, amazing obstacle courses to navigate, horses to ride, boats to paddle, and arcades to conquer.

Tap into your kid’s inner outdoor enthusiast! Even if your children aren’t big on hiking or biking, we guarantee they’ll appreciate the thrills of navigating one of our aerial adventure courses.
Monkey Business Adventure Park
(dcladventures.com/monkey-business- adventure-park) and Wisp Resort (wispresort. com/aerial-adventures) both offer three different course options, based on age and
skill level. At both sites, kids age 4 and up (as well as adults) can try their hand at climbing obstacles and zooming down ziplines above the treetops. Monkey Business’ newest attraction is Freefalling, where anyone 5 years and older can experience the thrill of soaring through the air.
Wisp also has plenty of other options for keeping the littles entertained, including a playground, a disc golf course, scenic chairlift rides and an archery range.
For horse lovers, riding lessons at Circle R Ranch (deepcreeklakestable.com) are a favorite. The ranch offers tiered experiences for kids of different ages, ranging from 15-minute handheld pony trips to hour-long trail rides. Trail rides are also offered at Western Trails Riding Stable (westerntrails. net) and Miner Hickory Horseback Riding (minerhickoryhorsebackriding.com).
If your kids are animal fans, but don’t
like being on horseback, how about a
visit to Alpaca Acres Farm and Fiber (alpacaacresmd.com)? Take a guided walk to visit with and feed the alpacas, then pick up some alpaca-wool clothes or fun alpaca- themed novelty items to take home!

When it comes to family recreation, you’re spoiled for choice in Garrett County.

In winter, there are plenty of slopes and trails to navigate with the kiddos, but in summer? It’s time to get on the water! Deep Creek Lake is a great place to

or kayaks from High Mountain Sports (highmountainsports.com). Hourly rentals of kayaks, paddleboards, pontoons or wave runners are also available at FunTime Water Sports (funtimewatersports.com). Or how about a fishing excursion with Deep Creek Lake Family Fishing Tours (fishingdeepcreeklake.com)? Half- and full-day trips are available for groups of five to 18 people.
