                      Huckleberry Catering:
Elevated Cuisine, At Your Convenience
After a career in food service that spans more than 20 years, mostly in the Baltimore area, Aaron Ward moved to the Deep Creek area full time in 2020 to start his next venture: Huckleberry Catering.
“We’d been part-timers for over a decade and just fell in love with the area,” he said. His original plan had been to start small, with dinner parties at people’s homes, but soon, opportunities for bigger jobs came his way.
“We catered a party last Saturday for 200 people at the Red Barn Inn,” he said. “Everyone was absolutely thrilled.”
The secret to Huckleberry’s success lies in good relationships with local vendors and suppliers, and with a menu that Ward defines
as elevated, yet familiar. “We try to bring an upscale restaurant experience to your event,” he said. “Our offerings really run the gamut. Just about anything people want, we can make it happen. We try and make it high-end, but keep it simple enough to be approachable. We want the food to be good and something unexpected, but also recognizable to people.”
Huckleberry doesn’t have its own onsite venue just yet, though that’s something Ward is hoping for in the future. For now, the company works at well-known local venues like the Red Barn Inn, Blue Moon Rising or Sang Hill Farms. Ward and his staff also cater small dinner parties at rental or private homes or provide personal chef services.
“We’re happy to do anything from six-people dinner parties to 300-person weddings,” Ward said. “We’ll come to you and help you organize.”
For those concerned about opening their home to a caterer, Huckleberry said, “We follow all CDC and health department guidelines. We’re happy to be fully masked at all times if that’s what the client wants, even if we’re at an outdoor venue.”

  OMG Relax:
Escape While Sitting Down
What if you could have a 30-minute, full-body massage while reclining, fully clothed, in a comfortable armchair? You can, in fact, do just that at OMG Relax, which opened in McHenry in summer 2021.
Massages cost $39.99 and are administered in medical-grade massage chairs designed by doctors and chiropractors. “They do head-to-toe massages on your wrists, your forearms, your hips,
your calves, your ankles, your toes and your entire back of course,” said Randy Anderson, who co-owns the business with his wife
Chris. There are very few restrictions, though OMG Relax prefers to accommodate people 14 or older, and the ideal height for the chairs is between 4’11 and 6’5.
“Each chair is sanitized with alcohol before and after each use,” Anderson said. Every hour that the business is open, an air filtration system and a set of essential-oil diffusers help keep customers safe from infection.
After your massage, stop by the gift shop to keep the relaxation going. “We have things like salt lamps, crystal and lavender,” said Chris Anderson. “If we can use local, we do. We also have a whole line of CBD products from Meadow Mountain Hemp in Accident.”
