locations across Pennsylvania, including a campus in Media. Albright offers accelerated degrees and preprofessional programs and does not require applicants to submit SAT scores.
Cabrini University is a Roman Catholic, coeducational residential liberal arts college in Radnor Township. With 2,150 students, Cabrini offers more than 35 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in education, accounting, religion, science and leadership. Students may also design their own majors, add a minor or concentration or double major. The 60-year-old school was one of the first colleges in the nation to require community service for graduation.
Delaware County Community College, founded in 1967, has three locations in Delaware County, plus six more in Chester County. The Marple campus in Media is
the college’s largest; the Upper Darby and Southeast centers are in Sharon Hill. In addition to traditional courses, the college provides customized training and other special programs for businesses.
Neumann University is a private
Roman Catholic, coeducational liberal arts college sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis
of Philadelphia. The university offers many undergraduate degrees, three doctoral programs, six master’s degree programs and an accelerated bachelor’s program. More than half of its 3,000 students are commuters. The student-faculty ratio of 14:1 allows professors to provide the personal attention for which Neumann is famous.
Penn State Brandywine in Media,
with an enrollment of 1,500 students, is one
of 19 Penn State Commonwealth campuses.
The campus opened in 1967 and was formerly known as Penn State Delaware County and Penn State Lima. The campus now offers housing.
Saint Joseph’s University is a private, coeducational Roman Catholic Jesuit University, located in Philadelphia and the Lower Merion Township. Saint Joseph’s is the seventh-oldest Jesuit University in the United States with 4,800 undergraduates, graduate programs and a vibrant online curriculum.
Swarthmore College is a private
liberal arts college with approximately 1,600 undergraduates. Swarthmore offers more than 600 courses, including an undergraduate engineering major, and undergraduate research opportunities in science and engineering and in the humanities and the social sciences.
Widener University is a private, coeducational university in Chester, offering
more than 40 undergraduate majors and masters and doctoral degrees. The Wall Street Journal has named it among the top 10 colleges in the more than 100 institutions of higher learning in Greater Philadelphia.
TECHNICAL SCHOOLS
Brightwood Career Institute in Broomall offers accelerated career-focused diplomas and associate programs that combine flexible schedules and professional instruction to create a rewarding learning experience. Brightwood offers programs in allied health, business, criminal justice, nursing, information technology, the trades and continuing education.
Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (PIT) is an independent, two-year college, located in both Media and Center City Philadelphia. Founded in 1953, PIT offers academic programs organized into 13 associate degrees, many in health care specialties, and certificate options. The degree option is for students who wish to develop skills for entry-level employment, as well as for those who wish to transfer to four-year institutions.
Strayer University’s Delaware County campus in Springfield offers undergraduate and graduate programs in high-demand fields, such as accounting, business, criminal justice, education, health services administration, information systems and public administration.
Williamson College of the Trades in Media provides a three-year, post-secondary trade education to deserving, low-income young men. Each of the approximately 100 scholarships awarded annually includes tuition, room, meals and books
for three years. In return, students agree to adhere to Williamson’s values-based curriculum and participate in the maintenance and daily operations of the campus, thus keeping Williamson’s costs much lower than other institutions of higher learning.
OVERACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMS
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a year-long program that targets students in grades 6-12 and transforms them into real, confident entrepreneurs. In this program, the students learn how to take their business ideas and perfect the building process to make it a reality. The goal is for each student of YEA! to launch his or her own business by the end of the program.
The Foundation of Delaware County organizes Career Awareness events in the area for middle school and high school students to make students more aware of the careers options out there today. Area professionals with different careers come together for events like career fairs and presentations to give students an opportunity to get a more hands- on experience with the experts in different fields.
Youth Leadership Academy is sponsored by the Delaware County Workforce Investment Board, Youth Council and The Foundation of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. The academy prepares local high school sophomores to take on future leadership opportunities. Throughout the program, the students meet and work with local leaders while addressing a variety of important topics.
Huntington Learning Center has provided custom tutoring and test preparation programs to K-12 students in the area for almost 40 years. Huntington Learning Center has a four-step approach that is proven to accelerate academic results.
