campaign are the Quintessential 50 (Q50), a group of female
entrepreneurs, activists and leaders, including fan favorites such as
Queen Latifah, Naomi Watts, Kathie Lee Gifford and Jennie Garth.
Many of the Q50 “visit Studio Park to appear on-air and meet
customers as part of our customer immersion events,” Schick said.
“This campaign will bring a more national focus to the QVC brand
— and it’s all being broadcast live and around the clock from West
Chester.”
THE COLONIAL THEATRE:
Phoenixville’s Immortal Venue
Scenes of mass panic as patrons flee from a man-eating alien blob
that has taken over the movie theater!
It’s the famous climactic scene of 1958 science fiction movie “The
Blob,” but also a recurring sight every year at Phoenixville’s The
Colonial Theatre, which stages a “run-out” (minus the panic) to pay
homage to the scene as part of its Blobfest.
Blobfest, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024, is the
Colonial’s signature event. Taking place over three days on a July
weekend, it includes screenings of both the original and the 1988
remake, as well as other monster horror classics. Further highlights
include a street festival and a fire extinguisher parade.

“It’s a celebration to commemorate the moment The Colonial
Theatre and Phoenixville were forever immortalized,” said Drew
Boardman, the Colonial’s Events Director.
However, the theater has plenty of events on the calendar beyond
July too. They include showings of crowd pleasers like “Barbie” and
“Jaws.”
“We also always do ‘Halloween at the Home of The Blob,’ which is
a lineup of scary movies as well as ones that are just spooky, like
‘Hocus Pocus’ and ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas,’” Boardman said.
The Colonial also hosts an annual Phoenixville Film Festival in
September as well as concerts, “some bigger and some more
intimate,” he said. “We’ve brought in larger acts like Rufus
Wainwright, Graham Nash and Gordon Lightfoot.”
Another regular feature at the theater are immersive event
experiences, such as a Studio 54-themed disco party and a 1920s
speakeasy experience featuring a local swing band and flapper
group. “You enter through the back of the theater and there’s even a
password,” Boardman said.
For anyone interested in supporting the Colonial and its
programming, “we’re always looking for sponsors and to partner
with businesses,” he said. For example, the theater teams up with
local restaurants for its Edible Cinema series.
