Hospitals
The hospitals in Chester County are recognized regionally and nationally for providing high-quality care and access to exceptional inpatient and outpatient services.
A presence in the region since its founding in 1892, Chester County Hospital is enlarging its presence with the largest addition in its history. The expansion and renovation will include 15 new operating rooms, a 99-bed patient tower, a new entrance, 13 additional rooms in the emergency department and a rooftop helipad.
The hospital, which joined the University of Pennsylvania
Health System in 2013, offers inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, including oncology, radiation oncology, open heart surgery and comprehensive maternal and infant health services. Chester County is one of only three hospitals in Pennsylvania to be awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation by the American College of Cardiology for its demonstrated expertise in treating patients with chest pain.
Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville regained its non-profit status when it became part of Tower Health. The hospital has invested $3.5 million since October 2017 in supporting the health and wellness of the community. The investments include upgraded technology, equipment and systems to enhance care, patient
safety and comfort. The hospital is recruiting new clinical staff and making physical improvements, such as updating heating and air conditioning systems, paint, floors and furniture.
“The rise in population within Chester County has sparked an increase in the demand for healthcare services, from primary
to specialty to urgent care,” said Jeff Hunt, CEO of Brandywine Hospital. “To meet this demand, Brandywine has once again invested dollars — both capital and operating — and resources into services including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, primary care, imaging and more.”
