Members of the local community provide nearly all the contributions that West Chester Food Cupboard receives.
The Brandywine Health Foundation (BHF) works to improve the health and well-being of people who live and work in the Greater Coatesville area by fostering community partnerships, providing capacity building support, and making grants to promote
health equity, healthy youth and a healthy community. In 2018, the Brandywine Health & Housing Center celebrated its 10th anniversary in Coatesville, which has helped improve the health of the Greater Coatesville area.
“This is one of the most concrete examples of the impact BHF has had, thanks to our donors, our volunteers, our grantees and our community partners,” said Vanessa Briggs, president and CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation.
The mission of Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM)
is to provide free medical, dental and behavioral care to residents without health insurance who meet income eligibility requirements.
Although the organization has hundreds of volunteers — 200 are licensed medical professionals — and a core of dedicated donors,
it also depends on other non-profits to extend care. Many of these non-profits contribute in-kind services, including the Chester County Food Bank, Main Line Health, Chester County Hospital/Penn Medicine and the Temple Fox Chase Cancer Center, which provides mobile mammogram services to 500 women.
CVIM does not operate a walk-in clinic. Patients must be registered and prove financial eligibility for free treatment and prescriptions. The main facility is in West Chester. The Mobile Dental Program launched two satellite locations this year, taking services to Avondale and Devon.
CVIM was named CCCBI’s 2017 Non-profit of the Year. Brandywine Center
