In 2017, the state of New York had the highest employment level in physician and surgeon occu- pations in the nation, with the hospital industry accounting for the most jobs in New York State’s healthcare sector in 2015. According to 2016 statistics, the largest industry in both Westchester and Dutchess Counties was healthcare and social assistance.
    Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla
Hospitals & Medical Centers
Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Val- halla provides exceptional care and clinical expertise. The hospital offers round the clock care by in-house pediatricians and a social worker for every child.
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Westchester in White Plains offers the same exceptional orthopedic, rheumato- logic and rehabilitation care as the hospi- tal’s Manhattan campus. The full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions is treated, and radiology and imaging services are available on site.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Westches- ter is considered the nation’s leading can- cer-treatment center, and West Harrison is home to a freestanding facility, offering our area the same top-notch medical care found at the Manhattan location.
NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Division, located in White Plains, is a cen- ter for psychiatric care treating children, adolescents, adult and older adults. The hospital is staffed by Weill Cornell Medi- cine clinicians. NewYork-Presbyterian
Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville is a 288- bed, acute-care facility recognized for its high standards in patient care. Programs include a new cancer center, cardiac cath- eterization laboratory and expanded or- thopedics and sports medicine services. NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley in Cortlandt Manor is an award-winning hos- pital, recognized for its Magnet nurses, No-Wait Emergency Room, cancer center, digestive disease center, and obstetrical department. The hospital’s services include wound care, rehabilitation, and radiology.
Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco is a member of Northwell Health, and employs 650 physicians. It was the first hospital in New York State this year to install a state-of-the-art infant safety system, which allows the hospital to capture high-resolution digital footprints of newborns, which (like fingerprints) can be used for identification. Also part of the Northwell Health system is Phelps Hos- pital Northwell Health in Sleepy Hollow. Phelps offers cutting-edge technology like the da Vinci Xi surgical robot.
St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers offers specialized programs like orthope- dics, cardiology, and geriatrics. The Yon- kers hospital also offers a range of mental health, addiction, and residential programs to the region.
In addition to being one of the largest employers, Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla covers every adult and pediat- ric specialty. The 895-bed medical cen- ter includes 1,200 physicians among its 7,000 health care professionals. The Westchester Medical Center Health Network, which includes Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center in Valhalla, MidHudson Regional Hospital in Dutchess County, Good Samaritan Hospital in Rockland County, and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Orange County.
White Plains Hospital, part of the Montefiore Health System, recently ex- panded its space to include 173,000 more square feet. In 2018, the hospital again received Healthgrades’ Outstanding Pa- tient Experience AwardTM, making it one of only seven hospitals in the state to receive this recognition this year. Monte- fiore Health Systems also has locations in the Bronx, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and Nyack. Montefiore’s Westchester lo- cations are community-based teaching hospitals. The Mount Vernon location of- fers inpatient, critical care and ambulatory services and is a New York State-designed Stroke Center and HIV/AIDS Center. The New Rochelle location offers primary, acute, and emergency care.
Health Quest is the largest family of nonprofit hospitals and healthcare provid- ers in the Hudson Valley, dedicated to pro- viding high-quality, accessible care. Health Quest hospitals include Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Northern Dutchess Hos- pital, and Putnam Hospital Center.
