                 HUDSON VALLEY
    BEACON
This little city has changed so much so fast we can only hope it doesn’t burst at the seams. With the blink of an eye store- fronts are occupied with boutique shops, warehouses are changed into high-end
DUTCHESS COUNTY
condominiums and new houses pop up in places you’d never think they could fit. Ev- eryone is trying to get in on what seems like a sure bet for buyers. The lure is obvi- ous: express trains to Manhattan, a thriv- ing creative community with DIA: Beacon as its anchor, a great restaurant and bar
scene, hiking right in town at Mt. Beacon, the list is endless.. And therefore, the real estate market can be all-out war.
For those moving to town for family life, your strollers will have lots of company. There are abundant events for kids and opportunities for parents to meet and socialize, as well as alternative schools such as The Randolph School, a progres- sive, holistic learning model serving chil- dren ages 3 to 11 in nearby Wappingers Falls. The city’s businesses are also very family-friendly: Max’s on Main, one of the best bars and restaurants, even hands out Max’s brand sippy cups to satisfy tots and make their parents feel welcome.

Beacon has quickly become a Hudson Valley hot spot with its natural beauty, restaurants, and accommodations. The Roundhouse has all three features.
      RHINEBECK
Rhinebeck has an old-money vibe without the pretension, posh but not pompous. This personality is well-repre- sented by some of its most famous resi- dents. It carries the humility of nice-guy rom-commer Paul Rudd with the high culture of photography megastar Annie Leibovitz. The village also has a decidedly family vibe, a trait that is perhaps best observed at the annual Porchfest, a mas- sive block party that pours the whole village out their front doors onto their lemonade-worthy porches.
The four-corner downtown stays busy on weekends with visitors and village lo- cals intermingling at mainstays like morn- ing coffee at Bread Alone Bakery, lunch and drinks at Terrapin, or dinner at Le Pe- tit Bistro. Nearby attractions include the Omega Institute, one of the country’s best holistic learning centers, and the town of Hyde Park, home to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt National Historic Site.
QuickFacts data from United States Census Bureau
It’s no surprise that schools here get great rankings (it ranked 115 out of 675 districts in the state on Niche’s 2019 Best School Districts list and is ranked 51 on the Safest School Districts list) and that houses trend towards the higher price range.
Rhinebeck’s annual Porchfest brings the town together for the ultimate celebration of community.
