Historic Orange is remark- able by nature: It is the only county in New York State that borders both the Hudson and Delaware rivers. Nature is very much a draw to this bucolic county, home to the Wallkill Valley Black Dirt Re- gion and the scenic Heritage Trail, which passes through Monroe, Chester, Goshen, and long stretches of farmland. Head to Sterling Forest State Park in Tuxedo for a day of hik- ing, biking, and scenic views, or visit in late summer for the New York Renaissance Faire.
There’s no shortage of ameni- ties and attractions here with everything from the historic United States Military Acad- emy at West Point, 500 acres of enor- mous sculptures at Storm King Art Center, shopping mecca Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, and the Or- ange County Choppers restaurant and motorcycle shop, made famous by the
Angry Orchard
Discovery Channel, to name just a few. Orange County is also the home to the fu- ture Legoland New York Resort and the newly renamed New York Stewart Inter- national Airport, which offers reasonable fares to Europe, without the congestion of the big city.
Agritourism thrives within Orange County bringing visitors from across the Valley with the flurry of weekly farmers markets in Newburgh, Cornwall, Monroe, Port Jervis, and more. For dining, you’ll find an assortment of farm-to-table restau- rants serving up innovative culinary cre- ations such as the cuisine at Iron Forge Inn in Warwick or Blooming Hill Farm in Blooming Grove. Orange County is packed with breweries and wineries, including Brotherhood Winery, the oldest continu- ously operating winery in the country; and Equilibrium Brewery scientific principles
help create flavorful brews. The popular hard cider brand Angry Orchard has also arrived on the scene with their new re- search and development center in Walden, sited on a revived 60-acre apple orchard with a small-scale cidery.
