BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN WESTCHESTER
  CHAPPAQUA
Neighborhood: In-Town
Sophistication, cachet, and urban amenities in a town-and-country setting
Chappaqua, about 39 miles from Man- hattan, is a hamlet in the town of New Castle. Its hotness is nothing new, but these days it’s for reasons other than a chance to rub elbows with Bill and Hillary Clinton.
People buy here because the location is fabulous and accessible in its own right; the schools are among the best in the region; the downtown is walkable and cheerful; and there’s lots to do and see. With a newly renovated Metro-North sta- tion and the debut of the farm-to-table café Chappaqua Station, commuters can unwind with a glass of wine or enjoy dinner as soon as they step off the train.

PELHAM
Neighborhood: Pelham Heights
A peaceful, yet eclectic gateway to family life in the ‘burbs
Just 30 minutes from Grand Central, the village of Pelham offers a peaceful oasis of tree-lined streets, quaint shops, and a small-town feel. Pelham Heights remains a favorite among Brooklyn and Manhattan transplants seeking architectural variety and great schools.
With an art-house cinema and art cen- ter, a library, gazebo, park, and playground, the Heights combines all of Pelham’s di- verse offerings in a single neighborhood. The Heights offers great dining, as well as a host of Colonials and Victorians sure to make Brooklyn transplants feel at home. Inspired by Manhattan’s High Line Park, Pelham’s own such park is showing prog- ress: A historic, iconic railway track, the
Highbrook Railway Bridge, will be trans- formed into a park and walking path.

PLEASANTVILLE
Neighborhood: The Old Village
Easy-going, intimate, and vibrant vil- lage vibe in a convenient location
Still somewhat affordable compared with neighboring Chappaqua, with a more laid-back, slightly artsier vibe, the 1.8-square-mile village of Pleasantville has what many residents consider an ideal location, almost smack-dab in the center of the county. This walkable village, just 30 miles from Manhattan, has a pretty shopping-and-dining corridor and lots
of lovely architecture, all just a 15-min- ute drive or less from White Plains to the south, Mount Kisco to the north, and the Rivertowns to the west.
The Old Village, near the train station and the Jacob Burns Film Center, is a big draw for homebuyers looking for coveted Co- lonials and Victorians just a stone’s throw from the equally coveted public schools.
