WESTCHESTER COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GUIDE
Cultivating and Advancing Talent Clarapath
Transforming
Medical Pathology
d
the expansion of its global headquarters
Clarapath, a medical robotics company based in Hawthorne, New York, is changing the way pathology laboratories process tissue samples.
“It’s like going from using a map and a compass to finding
your way with turn-by-turn GPS directions,” says Eric Feinstein, CEO of Clarapath. “Our SectionStar technology is bringing a level of consistency and standardization desperately needed in today’s fast-paced, short-staffed and high-volume labs.”
A Game Changer for Labs
Clarapath’s SectionStar device is a fully automated, all-in-one tissue sectioning and transfer system that consolidates manual cutting, quality control, and decision-making steps into one piece of equipment. †e outcome is a game-changer for labs, providing high- quality tissue samples with faster processing times, lower overall costs, and data to make actionable changes in laboratory processes.
A Year of Growth and Expansion
Both the investor community and pathology field are taking notice of this innovation as well. In 2022, Clarapath raised $32 million to support the expansion of its global headquarters in Hawthorne, including approximately 30,000 square feet. †e expansion allows room for enhanced research and development capabilities, additional workforce, assembly, manufacturing, and a CLIA laboratory. “†is expansion has allowed the team
to speed up our manufacturing process, as well as add even more robust expertise to our Clarapath ecosystem,” adds Feinstein.
In addition to more space, Clarapath has added
new senior leaders and advisory members with expertise in dynamic robotic systems, molecular pathology, investigative pathology, digital pathology and computational biology/artificial intelligence.

Key Safety Certifications
†e company achieved a significant milestone this
past year with the UL certification of SectionStar. A”er passing rigorous, internationally recognized safety testing, Clarapath received certification from UL, a
global safety leader, in two key standards: the electrical safety and performance standard IEC 61010, which includes electrical safety, mechanical safety, fire safety, and optical (laser/uv) safety; and the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standard IEC 61326-1, which requires limited electromagnetic emissions from SectionStar,
as well as immunity from electromagnetic emissions from other devices. According to Feinstein, “Both of these certifications are key to demonstrating the safety and precision of SectionStar and are a testament to the Clarapath team’s dedication and hard work.”
Part of Westchester’s
Robust Life Sciences
Ecosystem
“For us, Westchester is an
ideal location for attracting
and retaining the talent
we need,” says Feinstein.
“We are centrally located,
which is appealing to employees from New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Westchester and the Hudson Valley. We have found the available talent is highly educated, with valuable expertise that is helping to drive our innovation forward at Clarapath. Westchester’s robust life sciences ecosystem and strong healthcare sector are also important to our ongoing business growth.”
