Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki joined Miller Road Station owners Ralph and Rose Pepe, La Pizzeria Metro owners Mike and Mindy Tumolo, and co-general managers/ chefs Dan Tumolo and Alex Petrak as well as Wilmington Brew Works CEO Craig Wensell and CFO Keith Hughes for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 10 to officially open Wilmington’s newest restaurant, La Pizzeria Metro, located at Miller Road Station, 3101 Miller Road.
The new pizzeria, featuring a wood-burning pizza oven from Italy, joins neighbor Wilmington Brew Works in the renovated 11,000-square-foot Spanish colonial-style Miller Road Station, which was originally constructed in 1916 by Francis Irenee du Pont and owned by
the Pepes since 2015.
To mark the grand opening, Mike and Mindy Tumolo, who also own Café Riviera in the Concord Mall and the food truck Pizzeria Pronto, served up a variety of small plates and specialty pizzas from the new Italian
eatery’s menu, as well beer and wine to guests from the da Vinci Society.
