GREATERBALTIMORECHAMBER.ORG | 11TRADEPOINTOne of the most exciting projects currently taking place at Tradepoint Atlantic is the development of Sparrows Point Container Terminal (SPCT), a 168-acre joint venture between Tradepoint and Terminal Investment Limited (TiL). An economic impact study released in 2024 suggests the terminal will add $1.54 billion annually in benefits to Maryland%u2019s state economy by 2035, while creating over 8,000 direct and indirect jobs. Planning and design for the project is already well underway. %u201cWe hope to put a shovel in the ground in 2026 and be operational at some point in 2028,%u201d said Kristin King, Tradepoint%u2019s director of corporate affairs, noting that the container terminal will be supported by 5 million square feet of Class A industrial space. Another major recent win for Tradepoint was the groundbreaking for a new vehicle processing center for McLaren, The Americas. Expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, the facility will comprise 50,000 square feet and will be the first East Coast location dedicated exclusively to processing McLaren vehicles, King said. Other new tenants for Tradepoint include JD Fields HDM Spiralweld Mill, a sheet pile manufacturer. %u201cThey are going to locate here because of the easy access to their raw materials,%u201d King said. %u201cVessels are going to bring the steel coil to our site, and JD Fields is going to make massive pieces of steel infrastructure here that will be used for terminals, bridges and other major projects.%u201dMetal manufacturer Samuel, Son & Co. and RPM Warehouse also recently claimed space at Tradepoint Atlantic. Like JD Fields, Samuel does manufacturing work onsite, while RPM will use Tradepoint as an import location for cocoa beans. The beans will then be sold to RPM%u2019s customers, which include %u201call the major coffee retailers you can think of,%u201d King said. %u019b%u000e%u0008%u0012%u0008%u000e%u0003%u0011%u0004%u000f%u0199%u0008%u0011$\ffi%u0016%u0016ffi%u0003/LEHUW\\%u00035G%u000f%u00035DQGDOOVWRZQ%u0003%u0015%u0014%u0014%u0016%u0016:H%u0003ZRUN%u0003ZLWK%u0003DOO%u0003LQVXUDQFHV:KLWH%u0010JORYH%u0003VHUYLFH%u0003%u0009%u0003VXSSRUW5HQWDO%u0003%u0009%u00037RZ%u0003$VVLVWDQFH%%%%u0003$FFUHGLWHG%u0003$%u000e%u00035DWLQJ)HQGHU%u0003EHQGHU\Tradepoint also has invested in the well-being of the surrounding community. One example is Sparrows Point Park, a site in Edgemere whose creation was made possible by donations from both Tradepoint and its joint-venture partner TiL. %u201cIt%u2019s a 20-acre waterfront park with an ADA-accessible kayak launch and a 16,000-square-foot community center that%u2019s LEED Platinum certified,%u201d King said. For the first time, Tradepoint is also expanding beyond its original site at Sparrows Point. Tradepoint at Savage Crossing, a project in Howard County that is set to break ground in 2026, %u201cwill take an existing underutilized site full of old construction trailers and wipe the slate clean,%u201d King said. %u201cWe%u2019re putting three brand-new logistics facilities there.%u201dBoth in Baltimore County and at the new site, Tradepoint%u2019s growth shows no signs of slowing down. A ribbon cutting for Sparrows Point Park took place in March 2025.Spice company McCormick chose Tradepoint as the home of a massive 1.8-million-square-foot distribution facility.
