Milford Food Bank
This project for the Food Bank of Delaware features a sprawling, new, 68,000-square-foot warehouse/administration facility. The 1 million- cubic-foot warehouse/cold storage spaces showcase some of the industry’s latest technologies in preserving food while the new packing barn creates sustainable yearlong growth for various plants and trees. The design-build nature of the job allowed the construction manager
to immediately share their expertise from past experiences to help navigate and avoid potential construction challenges. Of the challenges encountered, remediation of the insufficient water pressure for the fire sprinkler system proved to be the most impactful. The construction manager and design team worked hand in hand to come up with a creative solution to minimize impacts to the Food Bank’s operating budget, allowing them to focus their expenses where it truly matters: on the community. Due to the construction manager’s effective management practices, experience, and creativity, this project finished both on time and under budget and currently serves as one of the Food Bank of Delaware’s most charitable locations.
