GENERAL BUILDING OVER $10 MILLION

The Standard
This project consisted of retrofitting the historic 12-story Nemours building located in the heart of downtown Wilmington. Now completed, this building encompasses 92 state-of-the-art luxury dwelling apartments. Numerous historical key elements were preserved and refinished
to maintain the building’s original personality while
also adding contemporary elements to help make the building feel more modern. The construction manager utilized their expertise in renovation work to effectively reuse existing building components when feasible, while efficiently navigating new mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems through the existing building space. In addition to mitigating the typical challenges that come with retrofitting an existing building, the construction manager successfully completed the job while the building space remained occupied. Continuous ongoing coordination between
the construction manager and landlord was crucial for a successful and safe job completion. Due to the construction manager’s efficient leadership and construction practices, this project was completed on time and within budget.

JJID, INC.
Replacement of BR 3-320 King St., Laurel, DE
The Culvert Replacement Bridge project in Laurel, Delaware, led by JJID, Inc., exemplified excellence
in construction and teamwork. With a tight 90-day deadline, the project required innovative techniques, such as the use of precast reinforced concrete end walls and a stream bypass system. Collaboration between JJID, DelDOT, and other stakeholders ensured seamless coordination, despite utility challenges
and weather-related delays. JJID’s ability to adapt
to site conditions, redesign critical components, and maintain open communication helped accelerate the project timeline. As a result of this team, the road was reopened nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
