ChristianaCare, Center for Women’s and Children’s Health
This major endeavor by Skanska for ChristianaCare is a landmark building in Delaware’s health care delivery infrastructure. The challenges of constructing a large and complex building in the middle of a teeming health care campus was successfully met by Skanska’s and ChristianaCare’s hand-picked specialty subcontractors which were largely based in Delaware. The latest BIM and 3D scanning software was effectively utilized to navigate the exceedingly complex Central Processing Plan modifications and additions, saving both time and money. Beyond the complexity of
the project, the construction team overcame an excessively rainy construction period that exceeded the local average by 28 inches. The use
of a ‘Pull Planning’ approach by the management team was key to turning over the project on time and on budget.
