THRIVING CULINARY SCENE TAKES ROOT IN DELAWARE
BY JACOB OWENS
Over the last decade, Delaware has become a burgeoning scene for very talented chefs and award-winning restaurants.
From Wilmington’s Market Street restaurants to Rehoboth Beach’s ocean-side getaways, the First State has offerings sure to delight any visiting foodie.
Here’s a look at some of the best around the state:
BARDEA & BARDEA STEAK
Co-owners Scott Stein and chef Antimo Dimeo launched the original Bardea on Wilmington’s Market Street more than five years ago, offering an innovative Italian restaurant that features a menu of adventurous small plates. In 2022, the founders opened the neighboring Bardea Steak, which offers a modern take on a classic steakhouse. The dishes

are prepared in a custom-made open hearth that show-cases live fire cooking and features a number of dry-aged and creatively aged meats. The efforts of Stein and DiMeo have been rewarded with a pair of James Beard Award
nominations, which go to the best chefs and restaurants in the greater Philadelphia region.
