Mark Newman
The Chemours Company
As leader of Chemours, a chemical manufacturer with roots in the legacy DuPont company, Mark Newman has helped to write a new chapter for the company. He’s negotiated settlements for Chemours’ liabilities regarding prior production of PFAS chemicals, and has moved the company toward greener alternatives aimed at aiding the
world’s post-carbon future. Company revenues have reached new highs since he ascended to the leadership of the global chemical company in 2021, increasing by 22% over pre-pandemic levels. Also during his tenure, Chemours co-founded the Center for Clean Hydrogen at the University of Delaware and exhibited leadership in aiding scientific education leadership with the creation of the STEM Hub at EasSide Charter School in Wilmington’s Riverside community.

Solenis
When the former Ashland Water Technologies segment was acquired
by private equity in 2014, the new ownership turned to AWT’s then- President John Panichella to lead
the specialty chemicals company to newfound growth. As CEO of Solenis, he has delivered, building a global business with more than 15,000 employees at 70 sites around the world in a range of water-intensive industries, including municipal water treatment, paper production and residential cleaners. He helped orchestra the $4.6 billion deal for Diversey this year – the largest acquisition by a Delaware- based company in many years.

Mountaire Farms
As leader of Mountaire Farms, the Selbyville-based poultry production company, Phillip Plylar oversees more than 5,000 Delaware workers at its affiliated farms, grain operations and production plants. Plylar has worked his way through the ranks over a 27-year career with Mountaire, and helped lead the company through
the COVID-19 pandemic. The private employer continues to expand
with acquisitions in the Delmarva Peninsula, and give back to its local community, donating food to local food banks, supporting employee families with college scholarships, and much more.

W. L. Gore & Associates
As the grandson of company founders Bill and Vieve Gore, Bret Snyder is the first family member to lead the multi- billion-dollar, private manufacturing company since his uncle, the late famed Gore-Tex inventor Robert Gore, stepped down from the helm more than 20 years ago. Snyder first spent time in roles outside the company and then later as a ground-level researcher at Gore, before ascending to lead its thousands of associates around the world. Since taking over in 20202, he’s helped to orient Gore’s research and capabilities toward growth industries of the future, including health care and renewable energy.
