Delaware State
Chamber of Commerce
As leader of the Delaware State
Chamber of Commerce, the oldest and
most infl uential business association
in the state, Michael Quaranta has
the ability to help set public policy
for thousands of state businesses, big
or small. Taking the helm of the state
chamber in 2018, Quaranta was a
good fi t, having served on the staff of
what would become the Department
of Homeland Security, managed
operations for 30 states for a Fortune
500 company, lobbied with the
Podesta Group, and served as chief of
staff to then-U.S. Rep. Mike Castle for
seven years. Today, Quaranta has the
ear of major CEOs around the state,
the governor and legislative leaders,
and he’s pushed membership to new
highs to extend the lobbying power of

Before joining the CDCC as marketing
and communication director in 2019,
she had a career in the Lutheran

hundreds of businesses in Kent
County, advocating for their needs
at the local, county and state levels.
Her role will be in the spotlight as

Q&A:
It was a bit of serendipity that led
Chris Baker to the Dover-based heavy
construction fi rm George & Lynch
more than 30 years ago, but it turned
out to be a lifelong career. He worked
his way up from an intern to leading
the fi rm of more than 175 associates
who build highways and bridges, lay
utilities and construct water and sewer
plants. Under Baker’s leadership, the
century-old George & Lynch recently
became one of the state’s largest
employee-owned companies after
off ering an ESOP.
