DANA Letter
Help wanted! That is the message of many nonprofits these days as workforce shortages impact the ability for them to do their great work. Nonprofits have shown in the past two years how creative and innovative they can be in the face of unbelievable challenges and still provide quality services and programs to address the needs and interests of Delawareans and those who visit our beautiful state. As we enter the
last few months of the year, nonprofits are now faced with workforce shortages, inflation, and the potential for a recession.
Nonprofits exist to meet needs in our neighborhoods, and they rely on the support of their neighbors to ensure they can continue to provide services in the months and years to come. The need for mental health care, food, career counseling, disaster relief, and so many other issues has increased over the last few years; and it is anticipated to continue to rise.
It is no surprise that nonprofits need funds to keep their doors open, and every little bit counts when you donate to charitable organizations. Recurring gifts of any size can provide nonprofits with a reliable source of income in uncertain times. Unrestricted giving allows the nonprofit to determine where the donation can make the most immediate impact.
Other ways to help involve your time and talent. The pandemic prevented many from giving their time, requiring nonprofits to either cut back services, or extend their staff even more. Volunteers can make the difference on whether someone gets a meal, our parks are cleaned, or whether the show can go on. Beyond time, consider donating household items to shelters, or giving blood.
Spread the word. Write a positive online review for others who may be searching online before donating. Tell a story about a positive experience you have had with the nonprofit and share their social media and website information.
They say it takes a village – our village is comprised of amazing works of kindness, creativity, and support by Delaware nonprofits. Please consider strengthening your community this year by supporting your favorite nonprofit. It will feel good, and you gain a sense of fulfillment while making your neighborhood and Delaware
a better place. Sincerely,
