 University undergraduates who needed a better place for rowing. Today, local residents still row on the lake, but it’s also a popular spot for canoeing, sailing, fishing and skating.
Sports
The Princeton-Mercer region is home to a wide range of sporting events throughout the year, and fans flock to the region to watch professional, minor league, collegiate and high school talent. Princeton-Mercer boasts first- class sports facilities that even novice athletes can enjoy.
Attend a Trenton Thunder game to see some of Major League Baseball’s future stars. The team is the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees and plays in
the Eastern Division of the Eastern League. The Thunder play their home games at the 6,150-seat Arm & Hammer Park, formerly known as Mercer County Waterfront Park.
The 10,500-seat Cure Insurance Arena regularly hosts WWE shows, monster trucks and major music headliners, such as Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Cher and Justin Bieber. For 2019, “Disney on Ice” and comedian Jeff Dunham have been announced.
Princeton Show Jumping features events sponsored by Olympic Riders and some of the best horses in the United States. The 110-acre facility is located just 2.5 miles from Hunter Farms in scenic Skillman.
Princeton University has 37 men’s and women’s sports teams, ranging from basketball to lacrosse to fencing.
The university, which has some of the best athletic facilities in college sports, also offers 38 sports clubs open to all students.
Princeton Rowing also has heavyweight and lightweight rowing teams. The University also offers a rowing camp
in the summer for grades 9-12. The
Carnegie Lake Rowing Association has access to Lake Carnegie and Princeton University facilities for members of all ages and skills. The Association also hosts competitive regattas.
The Princeton Tennis Program is a nonprofit that specializes in year-round group lessons for players aged 5 to 95.
