  A Food Lover’s
PARADISE
As one of New York’s largest growing areas,
we have everything a chef could want to create mouth-watering dishes. The Culinary Institute
of America is here, and its chefs have opened wonderful farm-to-table restaurants in just about every town you visit.
 INTOXICATING!
Every time we turn around, a
new winery, distillery, brewery,
or cidery opens. Over 100 of them
are found here, housed in vintage
barns, interesting repurposed
factories, and charming new
tasting rooms. Award-winning
beverages made from local
ingredients are also found in our Hudson Valley restaurants. As they say, if New York grows it, we can make it into alcohol!
 THE RIVER
Flows Both Ways
The lower part of the Hudson is actually an estuary with tides that mix salt water with fresh halfway up the river. Its namesake, Henry Hudson, navigated his ship to about that point in 1609 and remarked on the scenic beauty that surrounded him. Now this waterway can be enjoyed from your seat on the deck of an excursion boat or at the table of a riverfront restaurant. The area has frequently been compared to Germany’s Rhine Valley and has the same four-season climate that makes the landscape an ever-changing backdrop to the river towns that hug the Hudson’s shore.
