                                 HUDSON VALLEY
The only county in New York State to border both the Hudson and Delaware Rivers, historic Orange County is re- markable by nature. And while residents have plenty of op- portunities to dine, shop, and be entertained, bucolic charm is very much a draw here, from the rich farms of the Wallkill Valley Black Dirt Region to sce- nic Heritage Trail, which pass- es through Monroe, Chester, and Goshen. Head to Sterling Forest State Park in late sum- mer, when the hiking, biking, and views (draws throughout the year), compete with the New York Renaissance Faire.
T here’s no shortage of ame- nities and attractions here with everything from the his- toric United States Military Academy at West Point, 500 acres of enormous sculptures at Storm King Art Center, shopping mecca Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, and the Orange County Choppers restaurant and motorcycle shop, made famous by the
Discovery Channel, to name just a few. Orange County is also the home to the future LEGOLAND New York Resort and the newly renamed New York Stewart International Airport, which offers rea- sonable fares without the congestion of the big-city airports.
Agritourism thrives within Orange County, bringing visitors from across the Valley with the flurry of weekly farmers markets in Newburgh, Cornwall, Monroe, Port Jervis, and more. For dining, you’ll find an assortment of farm-to-table restau- rants serving up innovative culinary cre- ations such as the cuisine at Iron Forge Inn in Warwick or Blooming Hill Farm in Monroe. Orange County is packed with breweries and wineries too, includ- ing Brotherhood Winery, the oldest continuously operating winery in the
country; and Equilibrium Brewery, where scientific principles help create flavorful brews. The popular hard cider brand Angry Orchard has also arrived on the scene with their new research and development cen- ter in Walden, sited on a revived 60-acre apple orchard with a small-scale cidery.
