  Southbridge Plans for the Future with
New Neighborhood Action Plan
 WILMAPCO is supporting the development of a new neighborhood plan in the Southbridge section of Wilmington. Funded via a grant from Healthy Communities Delaware, it is being guided by the South Wilmington Planning Network and Southbridge Civic Association.
The plan aims to strengthen the foundation of wellness in Southbridge, a lower-resource Black community disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with actionable recommendations.

• Workforce development
• Affordable living and quality community

the plan will seek to ensure Southbridge residents are more involved with and      Street and Riverfront East. Private development here is eligible for tax breaks afforded by the presence of Southbridge’s low-income residents.
Regarding mobility, the plan will tackle
          from Southbridge to nearby destinations by all modes of travel.
Strong public engagement is a centerpiece of the development of the Southbridge Neighborhood Action Plan. Residents participating on the project’s steering committee are being     time, along with the residents and teen executives from the youth organization The Warehouse who are conducting door-to-door surveys.
Draft recommendations from the Southbridge Neighborhood Action Plan will be developed over the summer and a draft plan is expected to be completed by early fall.
