Old Dutch Church and Burying Ground
43 N. Broadway, Tarrytown; 914-631-1123 Considered the oldest, original, still-operating church in the state; names taken from the burying ground are featured in Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Built by Frederick Philipse in 1685, it features a distinctive wooden pulpit and sounding-board canopy. Cemetery tours are available by arrangement, but volunteer tour guides are often available summer weekends through the end of Oct.
