COMMUNICATIONS CORNER
Forestry Day
in the Legislature
This year’s Forestry Day in the Legislature event was one to remember! For those who have never attended, Forestry Day is an opportunity for NCFA members to advocate for our industry’s interests, educate policymakers on the issues that are affecting our industry, and
showcase our collective contributions to the state’s thriving business economy.
We decided to alter the format this year by introducing a breakfast featuring an opportunity for young professionals to connect with local officials. We moved our reception to the evening and hosted it at the Merrimon-Wynne House
in Raleigh.
We were thrilled to learn that almost 100 NC Senators and Representatives had confirmed their attendance for this year’s event, and the turnout was remarkable. We’ve received positive feedback from our members and learned that many of them were able to have important conversations with their representatives and those outside of their districts, too. We learned a lot from this year’s Forestry Day in the Legislature event and look
forward to continuing to make this a worthwhile
event for our members and our community for
years to come. A huge thank you to our members
and members of the General Assembly for taking
the time to attend this important event!

NC Forestry on CBS 17
Throughout the month of June, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to share our forestry story with the North Carolina community! We are proud to report that we had four educational segments air in a special show called On Carolina Soil, which aired during the 9 a.m. Saturday news show on WNCT-TV 9 and WNCN-TV 17.
The series focuses on agriculture in our great state, and this was the first
time forestry was featured. We want to thank Emily Wagner and her crew at CBS 17 for bringing our story to life. Thanks also to the NCFA members who took the time to participate in this series. Our segments focused on the following important industry topics:
• Goods from the Woods
• ForestryEducationImportanceandOpportunities • EconomicImpactofForestryinNC
• SustainabilityoftheForestryIndustry
