 COMMUNICATIONS CONVERSATION
‘Truck Drivers – Forestry Essential’ Videos
The NCFA is producing a video series on truck drivers this year. The goals of this campaign are to target rural North Carolina, speak to benefits of trucking for forestry, and point
out the hard work truckers are putting in for forestry businesses. We believe this will resonate with some folks and encourage them to join the workforce. We also hope to increase our reach on social media, grow our following, inspire viewer loyalty, and encourage viewer engagement in the form of clicks on our call to action. We would
like to have a compilation ready by National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 11-17, 2022. ■
  U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Partnership
North Carolina has been chosen to provide this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, also known as “’The People’s Tree.” The honor includes a public engagement campaign to
create connections to and celebrate our national forests. The initiative brings together USDA Forest Service staff, communities throughout the respective state and
across the country, and local and national partners to celebrate the spirit of the season and our great outdoors. The national forests in North Carolina will provide the 2022 tree for the third time since the program began. In 1998 and in 1974, Fraser firs from the Pisgah National Forest adorned the Capitol lawn.
As part of the engagement campaign, the NCFA was invited to participate in a Murphy to Manteo tour, and
we are asking our membership to sponsor or attend the tour beginning in November. Look for more information in the email newsletter
and on social media once dates are scheduled. ■
Landowner Postcard Marketing Campaign
The NCFA sponsored a postcard campaign mailed to approximately 600 landowners who own more than 500 acres of land in the eastern counties of North Carolina. ■
NC Farm Bureau Forestry Committee members pose for a photo before the mill tour.
Director of Communications Amanda Murphy had the opportunity to attend the NC Farm Bureau tour of
Troy Lumber and have lunch at the Troy Plantation near Troy, NC in May. She made connections with several folks, including the NC Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Chair Renee McPherson, who then invited our new Director of Education Programs Jessica Ireland to come speak to the committee about the NCFA’s education offerings. ■
