 Announcing the 2021 Winners of the
Forest Education and Conservation Foundation Scholarship

 The Forest Education and Conservation Foundation is proud to offer a scholarship to students pursuing a
forestry career in the state of North Carolina. The foundation encourages the wise use
and management of North Carolina forests through education outreach to students and teachers, continuing education initiatives with forestry professionals, and promotion campaigns designed to educate the public. The 2021 Forest Education and Conservation Foundation scholarship recipients are:
1)BRANDON SANCHEZ, a rising senior at NCSU, double majoring in Paper Science
Engineering and Chemical Engineering
2)AMELIA THOMPSON, a second-year student at Montgomery Community
College, majoring in Forest Management Technology
3)MICAH WOODARD, a second-year student at Wayne Community College, majoring in Forest Management Technology
Congratulations to these young professionals on their achievement as they work towards completing their programs.
  In addition to their scholarship award, recipients will receive one year of membership to the NCFA, and the opportunity to attend the 2021 Annual Meeting in Greensboro.

 Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience
The Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience (SFTE)
is an overnight professional development program for STEM educators. It allows participants to connect to the forest
sector and better understand sustainable forestry in our state. The 2021 SFTE programs took place in June and July.
1. SFTE Piedmont Class 2021. 2. Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience (SFTE) in the Piedmont was a success. John Hatcher amongst our “students.” 3-4. Weyerhaeuser Cool Springs Environmental Education Center. 5. Resource Management Service gives SFTE a tour of the Hoffman Forest.
