Project Learning Tree
Project Learning Tree ® (PLT)
is an award-winning, multi-
disciplinary environmental
education program for
educators and students in
pre-K through grade 12. PLT
is a program of the Sustainable Forestry
Initiative. It is one of the most widely used environmental education programs in the United States and abroad, and continues to set the standard for environmental education excellence. In North Carolina, PLT is coordinated by North Carolina State University – Extension Forestry, and facilitators offer workshops across the state throughout the year. In 2022, PLT trained 383 educators at 21 workshops.
Scholarship Program
NCFA’s Forest Education and Conservation Foundation (FECF) is proud to offer a scholarship program to students pursuing a forestry career in the state of North Carolina.
Education Resources
The NCFA has a wide range of education resources, including posters, Goods from the Woods kits, videos, and more.
COMMUNICATIONS
There is a plethora of options when it comes to engaging with the NCFA. We communicate through multiple outlets in order to make sure each one of our members and the public has the opportunity to learn about the NCFA and all the wonderful programs we are working on throughout the year.

The NCFA’s Facebook page includes information about North Carolina forests, the forest products industry, and the NCFA’s continuing work to promote responsible and sustainable forest management. It also serves as a point of outreach and interaction for the organization to engage with all current and potential members.

The NCFA’s LinkedIn account engages with members and potential members on a professional level. Engagement includes job postings, economic information, and other professional topics.

The NCFA’s Instagram page complements the existing Facebook and Twitter accounts, while specifically focusing on and engaging with the next generation of NCFA members, to promote the NCFA and the forest industry in North Carolina through pictorial documentation.

The NCFA’s Twitter account provides frequent updates that include information about North Carolina forests, the forest products industry, the NCFA’s educational programs, and legislative initiatives/updates that affect the forest industry. Twitter specifically focuses on engaging primarily with non-members and potential members to garner attention for not only the NCFA, but also the forest industry in North Carolina as a whole.

The NCFA’s YouTube channel houses all videos created by the association. There are playlists for Goods from the Woods, Career Profiles, and lots more.
